Mr. Weldon’s 33 years of experience developing over $4B in real estate includes senior executive roles for Related Midwest, Sailrock Development Limited, and, most recently, Lendlease Development Inc

With significant experience in all aspects of real estate development, some of Mr. Weldon’s biggest strengths lie with building strong relationships and teams, legal and financial structuring of complicated developments, securing entitlements, master planning, marketing and utilizing his knowledge of the intricacies of the construction and development process to create successful, best in class developments.

Prior to founding Weldon Development Group, Mr. Weldon joined the recently formed Lendlease Development Company in 2015 as Acquisitions Director, heading up the Lakeshore East and Southbank Developments, including acquisition, master planning, the entitlement process, and predevelopment of the projects. In addition, he was instrumental in the advancement of the Porte Development.

In 2019 Weldon was promoted to Executive Vice President – Development, within the Americas region, and oversaw the successful execution and delivery of Lendlease’s Chicago development projects. He was responsible for managing the continued growth of the development business in the Chicago market through pursuing and identifying urban regeneration projects, while also supporting Lendlease’s development efforts nationally.

Under His direction, Lendlease acquired and entitled an approximately $3.5B development pipeline and completed five buildings with market values in excess of $1.7B (with two additional buildings in the pre-development phase).

Prior to Lendlease, Weldon served as the Director of Development for Sailrock Development. He was responsible for all aspects of the 2,400-acre Sailrock Resort Development, which included the creation of the resort structure and vision, the development of the master plan (including villas, condominiums, golf course, marina and hotels, as well as historical preservation), securing government approvals, and overseeing budgeting, marketing, sales, architecture, and design.

Weldon joined the Sailrock development after ten years at Related Midwest, where he was a partner and Senior Vice President, Director of Development. He began his real estate career in 1990, developing his own portfolio of small rental properties in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, overseeing the management and re-development of several “class C” office buildings and managing several new construction and rehab residential developments in the Chicago Area. He also spent seven years as a consulting actuary for Hewitt Associates.

Mr. Weldon graduated with distinction from Carleton College with a B.A in Mathematics and graduated with a M.S. in Statistics from the University of Iowa. He also is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary (inactive).

Mr. Weldon currently serves on the board of the Chicago Metropolitan Housing Development Corporation and the Chicago Architecture Biennial, and as board president of SOS Children’s Villages, Illinois; he also serves as an executive advisors member of the Metropolitan Planning Council. He is a past board member of the Pilsen/Rauner YMCA (2003-2010); and former member of the Turks & Caicos Governor’s Advisory Board (2013-2015).
